Fall with Friends

Bright orange, brick red and brilliant yellow. Finally the leaves have changed and Fall is here! Autumn is a great time to do a little relationship maintenance. Take some time out to reunite with family and friends and enjoy the crisp air and the fragrances of fall. One of my fav parts of fall is switching to the medium and full bodied reds. Cab Francs, Meritage, and Malbecs. I cannot forget about my heavy white fav Viognier. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Delish!

Enjoy lovelies!

Bringing folks together

Outdoor concerts, sunny days at the beach, road trips and family reunions leave little time to relax at home and enjoy the summer. A great way to bring folks together and connect is with an easy meal and a light crisp summer wine. My current favs are rose (“all day!”) and Sauvignon blanc. A great simple and easy meal is a low country seafood boil. Here’s a great article on HGTV’s blog on preparing a seafood boil. Happy summering!

A break from the city…Fresh air, vineyards and black bears oh my!!

Hello again! I just love spontaneity! Throwing caution to the wind and going for it (whatever IT may be) will always give you a moment to remember.

Being spontaneous is being able to respond with confidence; calmly trusting that, whatever the outcome, you will have a positive if challenging experience that will lead to greater self-awareness and success.

Sylvia Clare

I begged my boss for a couple of days off before the start of the busy season and she said yes!! So there I was in the Shenandoah Valley enjoying the fresh air, bright stars, and enjoying the multitude of vineyards that the area offers.

I planned a loose itinerary for the day but leaving the city in plenty of time to take in the scenery or to make a stop if I’d liked. As I was looking for gas, I saw a sign for the Virginia civil war museum and stopped in to get my history buff on. The grounds were breathtaking and the exhibits were informative. A new exhibition was under construction that I may consider going back for a visit.

Historic landmarks and museums are excellent destinations for day trips. With lush grounds and beautiful interiors, museums are great for events, too.

I was also trend spotting. Although it was a balmy 39 degrees..the sunny warm days of late February and early March were encouraging folks to add a little spring to their wardrobes. I saw open toed and open heeled ankle boots and a touch of bright colors and creamy creams.

I hit three vineyards and found favs at each location.

At Brix the Cab Franc was absolutely scrumptious…so much so that we bought 3 bottles.

At Cross Keys Vineyard the 2015 Meritage made my afternoon as I listened to the milky sounds of local artist Isabel Bailey in the background. I loved the cab franc too!

Isabel’s father played the bass – my fav instrument of all time. Why you ask?? Because the bass holds the rhythm line. Duh?! JK…I took a jazz history class in college and fell in love with the music!

I stayed at the Massanutten Resort and really enjoyed the views of the ski slope from my villa. There were beware of black bear signs posted all over the place but I wasn’t scared…ummm yeah I was lol but it was so worth it.

I had an awesome time but most of all I got a chance to work on this blog and enjoy a few of my fav things! Cheers!

“Ugh…I just want to drink wine and plan parties”

The one thing that gets me hyped, excited and stoked to spend endless hours planning and going over every detail like a crazy person is curating intimate gatherings that bring folks together to make them laugh, share, love and foster a craving to live their best life ever..and a glass of wine puts the cherry (or grape) on top of this crazy cocktail! Recently, I was posting pictures of my Mom’s 60th Birthday Party that I hosted and I realized how happy and surprised Mom was during the party. She was truly overcome with emotion and it took her a few days to come down from all of the excitement. As I posted the pics, I remembered something that I happened the day after my holiday party in mid-December. Once I realized that I had nothing to plan, nothing to create, nothing to shop for, nothing to schedule, I screamed, “I just want to drink wine and plan parties!!” Thus began the hashtag on my Mom’s birthday pics #ijustwannadrinkwineandplanparties. I would love to drink wine and plan parties (DWAPP) all day every day (shout out to OutKast) but I have a 9-5 and a couple of PT jobs that I am passionate about so instead I decided to create this blog…yayy! Warning! I bet you thought this blog was going to be about drinking wine and party planning…yes…but much more than that! It will combine some of my fav things, passions or things that I have a love jones for (still my fav movie to this day) and endless ideas (and support) to help you live your best life EVER!

Shout out to Boisette Wines for a great wine tasting!!
