A break from the city…Fresh air, vineyards and black bears oh my!!

Hello again! I just love spontaneity! Throwing caution to the wind and going for it (whatever IT may be) will always give you a moment to remember.

Being spontaneous is being able to respond with confidence; calmly trusting that, whatever the outcome, you will have a positive if challenging experience that will lead to greater self-awareness and success.

I begged my boss for a couple of days off before the start of the busy season and she said yes!! So there I was in the Shenandoah Valley enjoying the fresh air, bright stars, and enjoying the multitude of vineyards that the area offers.

I planned a loose itinerary for the day but leaving the city in plenty of time to take in the scenery or to make a stop if I’d liked. As I was looking for gas, I saw a sign for the Virginia civil war museum and stopped in to get my history buff on. The grounds were breathtaking and the exhibits were informative. A new exhibition was under construction that I may consider going back for a visit.

Historic landmarks and museums are excellent destinations for day trips. With lush grounds and beautiful interiors, museums are great for events, too.

I was also trend spotting. Although it was a balmy 39 degrees..the sunny warm days of late February and early March were encouraging folks to add a little spring to their wardrobes. I saw open toed and open heeled ankle boots and a touch of bright colors and creamy creams.

I hit three vineyards and found favs at each location.

At Brix the Cab Franc was absolutely scrumptious…so much so that we bought 3 bottles.

At Cross Keys Vineyard the 2015 Meritage made my afternoon as I listened to the milky sounds of local artist Isabel Bailey in the background. I loved the cab franc too!

Isabel’s father played the bass – my fav instrument of all time. Why you ask?? Because the bass holds the rhythm line. Duh?! JK…I took a jazz history class in college and fell in love with the music!

I stayed at the Massanutten Resort and really enjoyed the views of the ski slope from my villa. There were beware of black bear signs posted all over the place but I wasn’t scared…ummm yeah I was lol but it was so worth it.

I had an awesome time but most of all I got a chance to work on this blog and enjoy a few of my fav things! Cheers!
